The cylinders have a large internal surface through which the water in the filter passes. This process carries out rough mechanical cleaning - large particles of aquarium debris are retained in the filler. After a short period of use, the porous structure of the ceramic cylinders is populated with beneficial bacteria, which contributes to the formation of a powerful colony of bacteria for biological filtration of water. Another useful feature of the cylinders is that they split the flow of water entering the filter in different directions and thus ensure an even flow of water through the entire filter. If used continuously, the filler must be washed simultaneously with the filter cleaning procedure.
