APT 1 is an all-in-one plant food for aquarium plants. What distinguishes APT 1 is that it does not contain nitrate (NO3) and phosphate (PO4). This makes APT 1 perfect for a young aquarium with aquasoil as a bottom substrate or for when there are relatively many fish present. With APT 1 you can get the best out of aquarium plants.

Dosing Advice
Dose 5 ml per 100 liters 4 times a week or 3 ml per 100 liters daily. Every 5ml per 100L dose adds 3.8ppm Potassium (K), 0.05ppm Iron (Fe), 0.5ppm Magnesium (Mg) and the necessary amounts of Boron (B), Copper (Cu), Manganese (Mn), Molybdenum (Mo) and zinc (Zn).

How does APT plant nutrition work?
Certain minerals play a critical role in plant growth. Nitrogen, for example, is one of the most important building blocks for plant protein. Perhaps more importantly; healthy plant growth is limited by the least available mineral. This is Justus von Liegig's (1803-1873) law of the minimum. The 2Hr plant food works because Liebig's law is based on the patented Capstone formula.

Our fertilizers are made with great care and perhaps unique in nutritional value, so you no longer have to worry about 'nutrient deficiency'. APT complete and EI are 100% comprehensive, while APT 1 (APT zero) is free of nitrate and phosphate. These are already present in aquasoil and by waste from fish.

Just as important as what plants need is how much they need. APT complete was created from the study of two of the most respected (and diverse) approaches in aquaristics: Tom Barr's Estimative Index (EI) and Takashi Amano's ADA system. While EI focuses on providing excess nutrients (and resetting through large, weekly water changes), ADA focuses on quality growth at a more moderate pace.

APT 3 chooses a middle ground. It is much more concentrated than ADA to compensate for general use of normal substrate rather than aquasoil, but is less potent than EI. Everything that EI offers is obtained, but just a little safer/slower.

APT 1 corresponds to the ADA approach: unparalleled algae control and the ability to obtain the most intense red colors of aquarium plants through nitrate limitation. This type is suitable in combination with aquasoil and/or a higher fish stock ratio. It is assumed that nitrate and phosphate become available to the plants through the soil and/or fish.
